The Porch Circle
A downloadable game
Concept: A modified version of Jacqueline Bryk’s The Porch. Members of a small town in crisis grapple with long-simmering tensions at a meeting of their monthly sewing circle.
Background: The term sewing circle usually refers to a group of people, usually women, who meet regularly for the purpose of sewing. These could be women’s personal projects, such as a basket of mending, or it could be a group effort, such as collaborating on a quilt. Knitting, crochet, spinning yarn, and other domestic tasks were also often done in circles. Whether an informal gathering of friends & neighbors or an organized effort for a charitable cause, these circles were a community environment where women could get work done while chatting, gossiping, and/or discussing politics.
This is a game about needs and the ways we unintentionally stifle & hurt the people around us.
It's also a chance to bring your own works-in-progress or collaborate with friends on a new craft project.
